PetNet is a mobile app that brings pet discovery, lost-pet alerts, and rescue assistance into one seamless experience.
PetNet was created around a simple idea: make it easier for people to find pets that need a home and help animals when they need it most. The concept came from looking at the different challenges surrounding pet adoption and ownership, from finding the right pet and managing their information to reporting a lost animal or finding help for an injured one. The goal was to bring these experiences together in one accessible, mobile-first platform.
The concept was shaped around four key experiences: finding a pet, managing your pets, reporting a lost pet, and getting help. Rather than creating a platform focused solely on adoption, PetNet was designed as a broader ecosystem that supports users throughout their relationship with animals. Location and personalization play an important role, helping users discover relevant pets nearby and quickly find appropriate shelters, rescue organizations, or veterinary services.
One of the main product challenges was keeping the experience simple while supporting very different user needs. The UX was therefore built around clear navigation and focused user journeys. Pet discovery allows users to refine results based on preferences such as breed, age, size, personality, compatibility, and distance, while more urgent experiences—such as reporting a lost pet or finding help for an injured animal—are designed to minimize the number of steps needed to take action.
PetNet evolved from a simple adoption concept into a connected platform for adoption, pet ownership, safety, and rescue. By bringing these experiences together, the product aims to create a more seamless way for people to discover their future pets, care for the animals they already own, and help animals in need.

The Challenge
Finding a pet to adopt can be a fragmented experience, with information spread across shelters, websites, and social media. At the same time, people who lose a pet or find an injured animal may not know where to turn. The goal was to create one simple platform that connects these different needs.
The Product
PetNet brings four key experiences together: finding adoptable pets based on preferences and location, managing personal pet profiles, reporting lost pets and alerting nearby users, and finding appropriate help for injured animals. Together, these features create a connected ecosystem around pet adoption, ownership, and rescue.
Designing the Experience
A key UX challenge was supporting several different user needs without making the product feel complicated.
I focused the experience around clear, action-oriented journeys and a simple information architecture. Pet discovery uses filters such as breed, age, size, personality, compatibility, and distance, while map and list views help users explore relevant pets nearby.
For emergency situations, the flows are intentionally shorter. Reporting a lost pet or finding help for an injured animal should require as few steps as possible.
Lost Pet Experience
When a pet goes missing, speed matters. The lost-pet flow was designed to minimize friction: select pet, confirm location, add details, create alert. Owners can provide the last known location, photos, description, and other relevant information. Once published, the alert can reach users in the surrounding area. Community members can then contribute by reporting sightings and sharing relevant information. The product turns a stressful individual problem into a community-powered search.
Personalization & Trust
The concept goes beyond basic pet search by allowing users to describe their lifestyle and preferences. This can help surface pets that are potentially better suited to their living situation. Trust is also an important part of the experience. Clear pet information, medical details, verified organizations, location data, and transparent adoption requirements help users make more confident decisions.
The Bigger Picture
PetNet started as an adoption concept but evolved into something broader: a platform connecting adoption, pet ownership, safety, and rescue. The product demonstrates how several related problems can be brought together into one coherent experience, while keeping the most important user journeys simple and focused.
